Fishing In Lapaz

Since it was SO windy out and no way the guys could fish here in Glenn's small boat, they decided to talk to a friend here and get a charter lined up out of LaPaz - which meant heading to Lapaz on Sunday afternoon for an early morning charter on Monday.  But wait - Jaime has a flight out on Monday and they're taking the car!!

So I called friends and got some numbers for people that do airport runs and we found one to take her on Monday!

The guys headed out on Sunday afternoon - we hung out!

That night was the "Spa" party at friends of ours - we headed over about 5:00 and gosh there were a LOT of people there - probably 50 or 60!!  We hung out with Becky and Larry and I knew the majority of the people there - Mexican food was catered by the local hotel and the rest of us brought our drinks and either an appetizer or a dessert!  There was PLENTY of food for everyone!

FINALLY the wind died down enough that we could sit outside and the dance music started!!  We had a great time dancing to an awesome playlist!

Meanwhile the guys got checked into their hotel and met their captain of the charter at a nearby restaurant - Glenn enjoyed shrimp cocktail and Brad enjoyed octupus cocktail (sorry, that doesn't even SOUND good to me!!)

They had a great time fishing and caught 11 yellowtail!

SUCCESS!

Jaime's ride to the airport arrived right at 8:00am Monday and she was whisked away!  Sure wish she could have stayed longer!!

Glenn and Brad arrived home late afternoon on Monday - they were too tired to cook fish so we decided to take some fish into El Panzon to have them cook it!  Besides the shushimi below, we had garlic butter and deep fried panko strips - it was all excellent!!

And then it was back home to package up pounds and pounds of fish to give away the next day!!

I ended up giving a lot away that next morning while Glenn and Brad fished one last time here - yes, the wind was coming in once again!!  What a lot of wind March gave us!!

Thursday we headed to the airport to drop Brad off - and yes, he hopes to come again!!

Jaime & Brad Arrive

It was total shock when Jaime called one night and said they wanted to come down - WHAT????  She had told us a year ago that she couldn't get any vacation time during Feb or March so we had invited our two sets of people down.  But Brad really wanted to come fishing and she rearranged her schedule for an extra day so she could come down for a few days!  We were excited to pick them up at the airport and have them come to our little piece of paradise!!

They had an early flight so as soon as we got home, the guys went out to fish for the afternoon since the next 3 days were WINDY!  They had fun but didn't catch a thing - mornings are better!

Jaime and I took a walk on the beach!

And we had the full moon that night - always fun to watch!

Friday morning we headed into town to get a few things and to buy some shrimp from the guy that comes on Friday - the shrimp kabobs were excellent! ( yes, Jaime had her eyes closed - I didn't check the picture as I was excited to eat - HA!)

The waves were crashing as we went for an early morning walk - definitely no fishing!!  It was a nice walk and always enjoyable to watch the waves coming in!

Jaime had just come off a cold and was feeling fine when she arrived but I think the blowing dust/sand/humidity was just too much for her as she started to cough!  Good thing she's content just hanging in the house and relaxing!!

An Anniversary and A Birthday

Continuing on from our pictures taken outside the spa last night, we headed in and enjoyed happy hour!

We enjoyed hearing Mike play his guitar and sing and our meal was delicious!  I think 3 of us enjoyed the shrimp and shredded beef potato!

On Sunday the 9th, Glenn and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary and Rene' celebrated his birthday!

Cindy and Rene' had brought us down a card which we opened and then we saw there was a large envelope - we opened it and it was from the 3 girls - they had sent it to Cindy to bring down and we SO enjoyed reading it!!  What a cute idea!

That evening we went to La Gaviota which in my opinion has the best shrimp of the restaurants we've been to - their mango daiquiris aren't too shabby either!

The shrimp was delicious and the bean soup in the crocks was very good!

What a fun evening spent with great friends!

The Texans Have Arrived

Our first set of company arrived the first week of March - Cindy and Rene! They were late coming in due to their weather in Tx but eventually made it!   We had a great meal in  San Jose when we picked them up at the airport and then did some grocery shopping before we headed back home!

There is NO shortage of eggs here in Baja - cost runs about $2.50 a dozen, less if you buy the 18 pk!

Cindy was excited to have a margarita at lunch!

We had only 1 fantastic sunrise while Cindy was here but it was a great one!!

Rene and Glenn went out fishing but unfortunately Rene got motion sickness (I know exactly what he went through as I have it too!) so Glenn ended up bringing him in - darn!  It's sure no fun!!  But Glenn caught 3 trigger and a pompano!

Thursday night at the Spa is Asada Night - grill night - so we put our dresses on and took a couple of pics before we went in - it was a perfect temperature evening!!

And more to come......

Sunrises and Great Food

Life is good -  relaxing days when the weather is windy - nice walks in the early mornings!  Glenn has projects to do when he's not fishing!  He's rebuilding a pillar that holds up the front porch and it's quite the procedure!  He's also been working on the roof when it's not too hot!  Yes, he keeps busy!

I brought down 3 new drink glasses so of course needed to try them out on a mango margarita - yes, they work great and the drink was delicious!

Glenn did shrimp kabobs one night - with the fresh veggies available at the veggie markets, it makes for a fantastic meal!

Sunrise

5 of us from Spa, went to a neighboring town to eat breakfast at this cute place!  The meal was fantastic, especially this coffee they make!  The tree we're in front of branches out over most of the restaurant!

And one more sunrise!

Company starts coming in soon - so it's time to clean the house and get the guest bedroom ready!  March is VERY busy with 3 sets of guests coming!

Friends

Ah, the time has gotten away from me and here it is mid-March!  I'm loving the easy going life down here - USUALLY nice weather except for the windy days! And part of the fun here is being with our group of friends down here!

Even though the below picture didn't have a lot of color, I still thought it was beautiful!

Becky and Larry - such fun friends from Co. Springs!  We missed having them come down last year!  It was Larry's birthday here so we went out with them and enjoyed a wonderful meal!  And the waiter even brought Larry a piece of flan with a candle in it!

Sunset - sometimes they're just as pretty as the sunrise!

I definitely was walking the beach the morning I took this!

Fishing has been so slow this year because of the water temp - COLD!  But this pompano tasted WONDERFUL!

Now that's a sunrise!!

Breakfast over at Del and Linda's - flapjacks, bacon and sausage!  AWESOME!
