Mothers Day

And OH what a Mothers Day it was!!  I knew I wouldn't be celebrating with the girls since we had been up north the weekend before AND I had a ticket to go to the Fine Arts Center with Amy to see "Rent" and I was excited about that!

The forecast called for 4 to 6 inches of snow - no big deal - Glenn decided we needed to go out for breakfast to Wild Horse since we hadn't been there since we got back from Mexico!  It was snowing when we left close to 8:00 and headed over!  Great coffee - great breakfast - and our favorite guy Jesse was there to take care of our order!

As we're sitting there eating, the snow kept getting heavier and heavier - by the time we left, it was slick out and we spun going up our driveway!  And the snow continued........

I texted Amy to let her know what was going on up here weatherwise but I was SURE I would still be able to come down - NOT!  By 11:30 it was getting deeper and deeper and I knew there was no way I was going to get out!  Hwy 24 was closed between Divide and Florissant due to accidents so everyone was rerouted on Twin Rocks Rd (at least the ones dumb enough to be out in it) and soon it was all backed up as a camper had jack knifed on that road!  So of course I had to let Amy know that I wouldn't be coming down and I was really disappointed!

The upside to the day was that I sat in my recliner and read while watching that beautiful snow come down!  And it just kept piling up!

We figured we got over a foot, probably close to 14"!!!  But the nice thing about spring storms is that it melts SO FAST!!!  By Tuesday you couldn't even tell that we had gotten snow!!  Gotta love Colorado when you get snow in the spring and the sun comes out the next day and melts it!

Who would have thought, snow on Mother's Day! We had the sun shining most of the day here in Fort Collins. Wish we could have been together; Happy Mother's Day!
