Girls Day Out

Time to celebrate Jo's birthday!  A couple of the ladies told Jo they would take her to lunch and the rest of us were there waiting when they arrived - Jo WAS surprised!

The drinks and food were great and you couldn't beat the view!  Of course with women, there was plenty to talk about!  Although you can't see it because of the light, the ocean is in the background!

It's great to be friends with these gals from Spa - Jo, Becky, Suzie, Peggy, Betsy, June and Brenda!

Her cake was delicious as most of us had a bite - the restaurant really comes through on a birthday!

What a fun day with the ladies!

Easter 2023

I always miss being with family on Easter but the girls were good about sending pics of the kids and calling on Easter day!

Semana Santa is celebrated between Palm Sunday and Easter here in Mexico - we know what to expect now and when to expect it!  This year it seemed even MORE people came to the beach than ever - and there's not a lot to do that week except stay at home and watch the action!

Friend Becky and I climbed on top of the house to take these pictures - as you can see, there are campers as far as you can see!

Looking the other way, it's pretty much the same!

We were lucky in the fact that it seemed to be "families" that were camped in front of us - and we enjoyed watching the little ones play and get in the ocean (despite the wind) and just have a fun time!  Normally the music is at an ungodly level and sleep is impossible as our bedroom is beachside!  But this year, we didn't hear any music which was wonderful!  Yes, we had our sound machine on and the fan going with our slider shut but it was still pretty darn quiet after 10:00pm!

The police had a presence again this year and they sat on our wall beside the beach access road - they tried to keep the atvs from going too fast running up and down the beach so it was a pretty peaceful time!

They had several port a potties and the truck to pump them out came 3 times a day on the 3 busiest days - that was a plus!   And this year, they all seemed pretty good about keeping the trash picked up too - the picture below is ONE days' trash as the truck came every day to pick it up!  Amazing how much there was, and the wire cage behind it is full too!

There was one day Glenn could have fished, but there was no way to get the boat out and back in with all the people on the beach!  But otherwise, it was windy!

Jerry's had invited us next door for an Easter Brunch which was very nice - lots of great food and people!  And yes, Glenn is pretending to be shorter than he already is!  HA!

Beach Ride

It's hard to believe that it took so long to FINALLY have an ATV ride!  We needed a part for it before Glenn would drive it very far and the part did come in - but then we had company and time passed but I finally said it was time to take a ride - even if it meant riding in the wind!

Neighbors Jerry and Luann decided to go with us too so the 4 of us set out!  It was NOT windy at first but of course the wind did come up a little bit later!  It was wonderful driving down the beach and enjoying the ocean!

We went up the beach as far as we could go - they've now erected a barrier at the end where you can't go any further, which is new from last year - and disappointing.

On the way back, we stopped at Rancho Leonero to check out their schedule for eating - it's a beautiful place and I love the pool that overlooks the ocean!

Jerry and Louann!  There was a group of swimmers staying there and we talked to some of them - they were headed to swim, even though the waves were gigantic by that time!  WOW - I was impressed they would even try to swim in those waves!

Jerry's ATV (which comes with the house they rent next door) is an older ATV and he had trouble getting over the rocks when we went - the way back was worse and the ATV died and just wouldn't start!  We thought we would have to go back and get a tow rope but Glenn had a chain in the back so we ended up pulling him home on this short chain!  Kind of comical but it worked!

After we got back, Jerry put on the charger and soon had it up and going again!

March Photo Dump

If it's time for the March photo dump, then our time is getting shorter and shorter here!

Glenn is good about taking 90 year old Hal out with him when he doesn't have another person to go with!  Hal caught both of these but couldn't hold them up so Glenn was helping!

Just a beautiful day - and with no wind - so this must have been early March - ha!

Friends Del and Linda, and Glenn and I took Eric and Hillary out for their 50th wedding anniversary which they celebrated last fall!  We had a great meal and then went back to Del's place for cake and a cool candle!!

Can you believe Glenn's lettuce?????  It REALLY grew well down here and last week he started handing it out to all of our friends - they were thrilled to get it!

A beautiful sunrise!

This was taken walking back from Hillary's place - just a different view as our place is down the beach! And yes it was windy - see those palm trees?

I HAD to snap this picture when we were in town and text it to Jaime - it was outside one of the many pharmacies in town!

Enjoying the spa swimming pool - the water was pretty cool but we used the hot tub afterwards!

This was our screen door the other day - dripping with humidity coming off the ocean!!!

And that's a wrap for March!

Girlfriend Time

Not long after Cindy and Rene left, our next company came!  Joleen was excited to get out of Kansas for awhile and get to the beach!  Here's Happy Hour on the front porch!

Fish dinner is a staple around our house - as long as Glenn is catching fish, we're eating fish!

Ah - special coffee day!

And we enjoyed it on the front porch watching the waves roll in!

Unfortunately, Joleen only got to go out once with Glenn and I was so glad she took this picture as I never get any pictures of Glenn on the boat!  Joleen didn't catch anything and I believe Glenn got one that day!

The wind has been awful - days and days of wind - and the kind where you can't even sit outside because it's miserable!  We're blaming it on the storms up north - but it's really tough to have day after day of wind......

Breakfast at El Viejo - it's always good and we love the juice there!

After a week at our place, I moved Joleen up to the yurts!  Hers was cute as can be and she was happy with it - it's only a little over a block from our house so it worked out perfectly!

With all the wind, we didn't even have any good sunrises!  But one night we had an awesome sunset!  Becky and Larry came over to play 5 Crowns with us and before we started, we girls ran outside and up the street to take pictures!

Joleen and I went to the market one day, went over to the Spa with Becky to swim and sit in the hot tub and walked the beach a lot, sometimes in the wind!  But it was a great time together and now she's back in Ks., planting her garden I'm sure!
