Waterfall Day

Day #2 for Patty and Leonard's ATV so we headed to the waterfall!!  The drive down the bumpy arroyo is long, hot and dusty but fun to let loose and drive all over!!  We were happy there was water at the waterfall, and plenty to walk in once you get down there!!  The canyon was as cool as ever and it was nice to have another couple down there that could take a picture of the 4 of us!!

The black hose is a water line to a ranch that's back in off a side road.

Leonard relaxing on his ATV.

After our journey, we headed to El Gecko, our favorite beach bar!

And table side guacamole is always a must!

The mango daiquiris with tejin around the edge are really tasty!

Check out this tree that's decorated with lights and presents - guess they're ready for Christmas year round!

Another great day in the memory books!

ATV Fun

Time for Patty and Leonard to rent an ATV so we can do some driving along the beach!  First up though was breakfast at Caleb's - delicious!!

Glenn actually is happy - even though he doesn't look it!!

We had a great time riding the ATV's until we couldn't go any further - up to the next town La Riberia where there is a large marina and it's blocked off by a fence!

There was some cool driftwood along the way!

Then we parked the ATV's and had lunch - glamour girls up next!!

Walked the beach for sea glass and shells and just relaxed - such a fun time!

The Rising of the Full Moon

Thursday night was the full moon coming up over the ocean - and that's something wonderful to experience!  A lot of people come out to the beach to watch it and although you just can't capture the beauty with a cell phone camera, it's still fun to try!!  But I loved just watching it rise!!

Patty and Leonard Arrive

Airport day - time to pick up Patty and Leonard!!  They arrived right on time and made it through customs just fine!  We headed out for groceries and then stopped at a great little restaurant for lunch.

Although we aren't staying at this beach resort, it's fun to stop and take a picture of this since the town we stay in is called Spa Buena Vista!

We grilled up some burgers that first night and I made a batch of excellent guacamole!

The sunrise the next morning was awesome!!!  I couldn't stop snapping pictures!  And it went from this color to the next picture color!

Leonard and Patty needed to sleep in so Glenn went on out in the boat and caught some trigger fish!

And we enjoyed coffee on the deck after breakfast!

Relaxing took up most of our day................

Breakfast and Fishing

We love going out for breakfast!  There's 3 favorite places to go in Los Barilles and it's nice to go early before the little town gets busy!  El Viejo was the choice for this breakfast!  I'm stuck in a rut and always get the ham and cheese omelet but it's SO GOOD why should I change!  One of the things I like about this place is their jamaica juice or the proper name, aqua/rosa de Jamaica!  They have a huge jug of it and it's delicious!!  It's made from the roselle flower.

This is the beach that I walk every morning!

I've yet to tire of the view from the sliding glass doors!

Glenn is enjoying fishing when the wind isn't blowing!  Eric went out with him one day which was nice because I didn't have to help him get it out of the front yard and then launch it!

But early mornings when he goes out by himself, I have to help him.  A friend took this picture!  We can get the boat to the water with just the ATV but when he comes back in, he has to have the truck to bring it all the way up!

And away he goes................

Day Trippin' With Friends

What to do on a windy day on the Baja? (of which there are MANY!) Take a day trip with friends!

Del and Linda drove over one morning and asked us if we wanted to ride with them over to La Ventana - a place along the beach which is known for high winds and lots of kite surfers!  We said sure and joined them!

First on the agenda though was lunch in El Triunfo - this is an old mining town that has a couple of great restaurants and museums.  We stopped at their favorite place to eat and the courtyard garden was just beautiful - and lunch was AMAZING!!

Before our meal came, they brought us slices of the bread at the right of the picture - it was a cranberry walnut bread with a dipping sauce - wow was it good!!  And you can purchase whole loaves if you want to (which I should have but didn't!!).

We walked by these beautiful shutter doors which houses a museum!

I have no idea what this building is but I thought it was a true picture of an old style Mexican building!

While the guys walked back to get the car, Linda and I went to the piano museum - it was filled with OLD pianos and a few instruments.  When the miners came to work the mines, their wives insisted on bringing their pianos - I can't imagine getting these heavy items over the rutted roads back them.  Some of the pianos dated back to the late 1800's!

Then we drove on to La Ventana - and yes it was WINDY!!

There were dozens of kite surfers out there just loving that wind!

Over at the Bay of Dreams, we saw this car - pretty unique!!

It was a fun filled day with friends!

Red Snapper For Dinner

Coffee on the front veranda - my favorite spot every morning!!  I LOVE to sit in the sun but only allow myself 1/2 hour maximum to be in the direct sun - then it's back to the shade!!

When the kite surfers are out, Glenn comes in from fishing!  A little bit of a hassle to get that boat in and out of the water and sand but we manage - sometimes there's someone on the beach to help out - otherwise there's ME!!!  We did find out that using the winch on the front of the ATV works much better than using a rope!  And then he uses the truck to pull it over to the house - getting the boat in through the gate is a little tougher!

Today, Glenn caught 2 red snapper - he wanted a close up to show the teeth - to me, the poor fish just looks sad!

But we both enjoyed the 2 red snapper that evening as we ate with friends Eric and Hillary and their friends from Massachusetts!!  The restaurant cooks your fish and serves it with rice and beans!  What a delicious meal!

Settling In

Everything is in its' proper place and now it's time to start enjoying life here!!  First on the agenda was doing some laundry - and since there is no dryer here, it was back to the old fashioned way of drying clothes - on the clothes line!!  I found it actually fun and refreshing to do it that way!

Saturday was our 34th wedding anniversary - we decided to go out for breakfast vs. dinner that evening and had a wonderful one at Caleb's - they make the best omelets!!  We always ride our ATV to town if possible - they have back roads into Los Barriles as we can't take the highway - most of it is on the beach!

Glenn decided to clean out the "hot tub" and fill it to test out his depth finder - perfect - I wanted to get into the hot tub anyway!!  His thermometer said it was 103 degrees!!!!!  Way too hot to get in for a while!

What a view from sitting there..........  The hot water comes from the hot springs and the water that comes out of the hose is just plain hot!!  When you're done soaking, you just open the valve and let the water drain into the plants and trees!

Another fantastic couple of days in paradise!
