Punta Pescadero

We've always wanted to take the coast road up to the town of Punta Pescadero but it's a rough one!  And the thought of taking the ATV up there and being in the sun all the way up and back was a little daunting - next best thing - friends that have a 4 seater side by side!

Becky and Larry offered to drive theirs and invited us to ride with them - also Peggy and Bob drove theirs and we set out mid-morning to head up there!

The ride was fantastic - we drove the beach road all the way up there and it was so pretty!

I loved this huge cactus!

Looking back as we were traveling!

A couple of really nice houses as we were coming into the town - and gorgeous water!

We stopped down at this beach, put out the beach chairs and just sat and relaxed for a while - lots of shells on the beach!

Then we went to the resort restaurant which sits on a cliff - this is the view from the restaurant!  Very pretty!

The meal was excellent!  One of the best quesadillas I have ever had with grilled chicken and lots of gooey cheese inside!  Everyone was happy with their meals - and just for the record, their "lemonada" (which is hand-squeezed limes with sugar and are excellent!) cost more than the beer!

We enjoyed looking around and driving up to the next little town - they even have a small airstrip in this tiny town that as far as I know, doesn't even have a grocery store!

Becky and Larry in front - we sure had a fun day with everyone!

Hummingbird Babies

Remember the hummingbird nest I posted the end of February?  Well, we've been watching this nest over at Hilary's place and she keeps us updated on what is happening!

The babie were born - kind of hard to see but they looked pretty cute in the nest!

Their beaks were small at first but grew quickly it seemed!

And before we knew it, they had grown to this size!

The nest looks way too small for these little ones now!

Cute as can be!

And now they are completely out of the nest and flying around at Hilary's house!  Gosh it was fun to watch all of this unfold!

Hiking Flat Top

I'm not sure you could call Flat Top a mountain, but it's certainly above sea level and quite the hike to get up there!  Glenn decided it would be fun to hike it - but we should have left a LOT earlier than 8:30 to get there and start the hike but oh well....

I decided my stitches needed to be covered so my leg wouldn't get burned and since I was out of gauze and a bandaid would have just came off, I just wore a baggy pair of long capris and then rolled them up - but they were HOT - VERY HOT!  And we were in the sun the entire time.....

It was sure uphill ALL THE WAY!  But we made decent time and stopped a lot to take pictures!

What an odd shaped rock this was with a cactus on one side of it!

When we got to the top, it was super windy but the views were amazing!

And you can bet we were sweating by this time!

There were some lovely cacti on the way up - and you came down the same way!  Yes, going down was much more treachous but no falls and just a little bit of skidding!

A selfie at the top!

Heading down!

Anyway, we were all glad we went and now Glenn and I can say we hiked it!

El Cardonal

Since my stitches were pulling and driving me crazy, we decided to head into town for breakfast and into the clinic!  I had heard of a newer breakfast place (which was close to the clinic) so we headed into eat!  It was a little Mexican place with a great menu!  We were all pleased with our meals!

I went into the clinic to check with the doctor while the rest of them walked over to the second hand store!  The dr looked at the stitches and said he would take 2 of them out but the rest had to wait till the following Tuesday (which was 2 weeks to the day).  Well darn - but at least 2 came out!

We went into the "souviner" shops as Cindy was looking for a particular wine glass but she didn't find it - however, we did get some cute shot glasses!

Then we headed up the highway on the  "Road to Nowhere" as it's called to a little town called El Cardonal - Glenn and I had been wanting to get up to this small town to just check it out!

It's a very small town with basically no services at all except a hotel with a great place to eat but the beach is lovely - and there wasn't a soul on it!

There were some beautiful beach houses there too - I'm sure this small place will be "discovered" soon which will be a shame but that's how progress is I guess!

Back home, the "commander" had called Glenn and said he needed some fish so they stopped by again - Rene enjoyed visiting with them since he speaks Spanish!

Another day in paradise....

An Anniversary and A Birthday

How fun to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary AND Rene's birthday, both on March 9th!  It looked to be a beautiful day so the guys left early to go fishing AND were successful!

Believe me, the flies come around when Glenn cleans the fish!  He used to do it in the back of the house but has lately done it right in front on the beach which makes me MUCH happier!

After naps, the guys cleaned up and we posed for pictures before heading over to the Spa Hotel for our meal!

We were thrilled they were seating outside because it's so pretty there and SO MUCH LESS NOISY than being inside!  Happy Hour was going on so we all got double drinks!  YUM!

Cindy is drinking a margarita and I've got a pina colada - yummy!

The food was great as usual!  I LOVE their potatoes!  There was a guy singing and playing a guitar so it made for a really nice evening!  And then I walked back by the swimming pool to capture the sunset through the palm trees!

It's always fun to walk back to our place, barefoot in the sand!

Airport Run

If we're driving to the airport, we must have friends arriving!  Cindy and Rene arrived last week to spend a week with us - we picked them up and then headed to a restaurant to eat - then it was off to a grocery store to pick up a few supplies before we headed back to our place.  Unfortunately, the place we stopped for groceries was quite busy but we had no idea HOW busy till we got up to the check out!  The lines were 1/2 way down the first aisle and there were only 3 checkers!!  (Sound familiar?)  We were in line for almost 45 minutes, and yes, I was tempted to leave our 2 carts and walk out but the thought of starting over at another store was not a pleasant thought either!

We finally got home and we were all exhausted!  Luckily I had made taco stew the night before so all we had to do was heat it up!   Drinks on the front deck are always great!

It was full moon night so it was fun to see that moon rise over the ocean - we crawled up on our neighbors top floor and had a great view!

The next morning was an awesome sunrise!  Cindy was so tired the night before that I didn't wake her up but I should have because it was the best one the entire time they were here!

Love that orange ocean!

It was so fun watching the whales that morning - they were a ways out but we could still see them!

We all walked the beach with smiles on our faces!

Fish and More Fish

Glenn loves it when he gets to go out fishing in his boat - and we had a streak of nice days before the wind came back in!  AND the yellowtail started biting!

The cows come around about every other day - ALWAYS when the trash is full right by the beach and they pull the black trash bags out with their teeth and chomp away at anything inside!  This one was just staring at me and my coffee but I didn't offer any!

Glenn is THE FISHERMAN in Spa!  People of course stop by ALL the time and with all the fish he was catching, it was fun to give a lot of it away!  I think it would be easier just to post a sign on our front gate where one side of the sign says FISH TODAY - INQUIRE WITHIN with the other side saying NO FISH TODAY!  HA!

You can see by the sky that we've had perfect days!

In other news, Glenn set up a hydroponics system for a couple of people last year - one chose not to grow this year so Glenn set it all up at our place and had brought lettuce seeds down.  He planted the seeds right after he got here and not long after they were ready to be transplanted!  I can't believe how fast things grow down here and will take another picture in a couple of weeks to show their progress!  He had to put cement blocks on our wall so the cows wouldn't reach over and eat the lettuce and also has a canvas cover for when the wind blows!

I just keep reading book after book after book.....

February Photo Dump

Is it possible that Feb. is already gone and we're into March!  Yes - I can tell by the wind here!  HA!  Let's hope the windy days stop SOON!

A typical scene in Baja - a paddleboarder going by (when it's not windy of course!) - a boat heading into fish - and walkers on the beach stopping to talk - just another day in paradise!

We went up to Jo and Norm's one evening to gather around the gas firepit!  We all brought a dip and drinks and talked the evening away!

Hillary and Eric have this darling hummingbird nest right in their courtyard!  They watched the hummingbird build that nest and now we're waiting for the one egg to hatch - I can't wait!

They look down on this beautiful bush that's in bloom!

And last but not least, 2 police trucks with 6 policemen from Cabo - is the commander writing Glenn a ticket?  Nope - just giving Glenn his phone number in case we ever have a problem!  4 of them were all decked out with their guns!   And Glenn DID call him yesterday to let him know he had fish for him so he's coming in on Monday to get it!

And that's a wrap for February!
