Fish, Music and Bread

An interesting title, huh?  Glenn continues to fish whenever he can!  He's SUCH an early riser when he fishes and of course I wake up too so sometimes just end up getting up!  If he doesn't fish, then he will walk with us!

A few clouds on this day which made for a pretty sky!

Friday is bakery day - you can place an order from Mon - Wed and then on Friday go pick it up!  There is a cute horse trailer set up where all the baked goods are!

They're all tagged and on shelves inside - cute as can be!!!  And the baker is amazing!!!! I ordered English muffins which were SO good!!  And also hot dog buns to fit the long Costco hot dogs!!  We had them the other night - best hot dog bun I've ever had!!

After you pick up your order, you can go sit under the tarp where there are chairs and the bakers' husband passes out tequila shots if you are interested!!  You can bring beer if you want too - it's just a social time and a fun thing to do!

Another party to attend!!!  And Glenn was to provide the fish and cook it over at Betts and Jimmys' place - they have a beautiful house that we had not been to before - everybody brought a dish and the best part was Jerry (our next door neighbor here) and Mike brought their guitars and we had kind of an old fashioned sing along!!  So fun to hear them play and sing!

Glenn decided to smoke some fish!!  They're not my favorite but he enjoys it!

The night before Patty left, we went to La Gaviota for shrimp and it didn't disappoint!!  I love this picture of Patty with her mango margarita!

It's a cute place to go and by the time we left it was completely full!

Since our anniversary was the next day, we celebrated with this dinner since Glenn was going fishing on a charter boat!

I took Patty into the bus stop for her trip to Cabo to the airport - it's very reasonable to use the little bus which only holds about 15 people!  Such a fun time with Patty and I'm so glad she could come!

Glenn had a wonderful day fishing and came home with this tuna so he was one happy guy!

Relaxing Baja Days

Although some days are quite relaxing around here, other days are rather busy it seems!!

I have really been disappointed in the sunrises this year - yes, there have been a few that were very nice but none that have been AMAZING like prior years!!  Oh well..............

One day Patty and I were invited to go over to Spa to swim - the water is always cold when you get in but then it's very nice to swim around and it's so pretty over there!

We sat with Ace and Sally one night for dinner over at Spa - Sally went home a week early but Ace was still around and happened to be over one day late afternoon and Glenn was cooking fish so we invited him to stay!

This picture is at the other end of the beach where we walk and turn to walk up the road - I DO love these palm trees!

Thursday night was Asada (grill) night over at spa so I made reservations EARLY (as it gets booked up fast) for an early meal!

All 3 of us ordered the potatoes and they were delicious as usual!!  We all brought leftovers home!

One of the cool plants that is at the top of the Spa Resort - we decided to walk down through it so Patty could see it and this was on the roadway turning in!!  I have forgotten the name of it now but it's an interesting plant!

Sister Patty Arrives

A pretty sunrise to announce the arrival of Patty who was arriving that morning!!

Pick up at the airport was quick and easy, just how we like it!!  It was great to see Patty and her flight was good so all was well!!  The place we usually eat lunch at was closed since it was a Monday so we headed back to Los Barriles and went to El Viejo, famous for their tacos!!  We had shrimp ones and they were excellent!!  And jamaica juice - the refreshing purple/red juice made from the dried hibiscus flower!

We had parked behind in the square area so walked along and took a picture with the flowers!

Caught Glenn going out in his boat the next morning with this pretty sunrise!

And he was successful with this nice sierra!

And then it was full moon time (and eclipse time in the middle of the night where I chose NOT to get up!!)

The moon got up in this cloud and completely changed the color of the night!

And later on I always love it when the moon hits the water!

Between Patty and I, we took a LOT of pictures!!

Cows On The Beach!

I love this picture of the cows just hanging out on the beach!!  They come by about every other day - along with the horses and the donkeys!

Nothing spectactular on the sunrises but they're still pretty to see in the mornings!

Glenn has been helping out people in the neighborhood if they need something done - he worked on Brenda's hot water heater and her side by side and she took us out to dinner!  I had shrimp with mango salsa!  The large thing in the potatoes was kind of a cheese tortilla that had been fried!  Very good!

The maintenance people had been repairing the sewer system on the main road here and on lunch hours this piece of equipment would go down to the beach for the guys' lunch break - imagine my surprise when I saw somebody lying in the bucket when he went by!!!

I still love walking the beach when Glenn fishes!

Glenn went on a charter boat one day with the neighbor and another guy, about 1 1/2 hour away - when he got back he realized he had left his small cooler in the captains' boat - with his glasses inside!!  So a couple days later we made the trek back up there to get it - stopped at El Triunfo on the way back and had a delicious meal!

I ordered tortilla soup - they brought the dry ingredients in a bowl and then poured the hot soup on top from another mug - pretty cool and great to eat!

Settling In To Baja Life

Gosh, we've been here over a month and I've only blogged once!!!!  Time to rally and post some of these pictures I guess!

When Glenn fishes, I walk the beach - when he doesn't fish, we walk around the loop together through the residentail area and end up on the beach!

Although this doesn't look like a big fish, it is for the species!  It's a trigger fish (one of our favorites) and this is the BIGGEST one he has ever caught!!

Oh those pretty sunrises!!

My favorite place to relax with my coffee - just staring at the ocean and that blue, blue sky!

A large party just up the street a little ways and it was a pig roast!!!  DELICIOUS!

There were probably about 60 people there - knew a lot of them but we always meet a few more!  Here's Jo and Norm standing by me, and Deb and Brenda in the front!  All close friends!

We had unseasonably warm weather the first 3 weeks we were here - and I mean almost HOT!!  Not used to that at all and of course this was the year that I brought 3 pairs of pants as I have been cold in Feb. the last couple of years - figures!!!  So I'm short on shorts to wear but that's OK - nobody cares what you wear around here and we end up wearing the same thing day after day........
