Jay cooked us an awesome breakfast Saturday morning! It was cool and a little dreary out but that didn't dampen our spirits!! After coffee, we were ready to hit the road to Traverse City for our first wine tasting of the day - yes, a morning wine tasting!! Not sure I've ever done that! It was a very nice building with excellent views over the valley! (and yes it was pretty cool out so we're all in jackets!!)
Next we headed to the Mission Point Lighthouse - what a neat place!! The beach area was nice and there was even a couple getting their engagement pictures taken!! She was in a sleeveless dress and had to be freezing as it's lightly raining by this time and pretty darn cool out!
Inside of the lighthouse was info on the prior caretakers of this place and a gift shop - we all found something to buy of course - I got a nice long sleeve t-shirt!
Swimming just didn't sound fun in these temps!
Next we stopped for a quick sandwich and soup before heading to Chateau Chantal - this place was amazing!!
Emily had reservations here and we were taken to a large room that had beautiful views (which you couldn't really see because it was raining at this time) and given a selection of wine flights to choose from! We all chose different ones so we could see the different foods that were served with it! This is a couple of the selections.
I chose the sweet flight and what a spread they gave us!!
It was great to just sip our wine, eat our food and relax!!
Here is one of the views from this place - it was beautiful!
Many cherry blossoms were blooming as we drove around and it was fun to see all the fruit trees and the grape vines!
Our last stop was at Amorita's - the couple there were really friendly and we enjoyed visiting with them as we tasted the wine!
This was one of the bathroom walls - now that's a LOT of corks!!
We headed back to the camp after our day in Traverse City - because of the Blessing of the Bikes, the town we had to go through was blocked off and we had a heck of a time finding a way to get back to camp! Jay grilled steaks for us that night and we just relaxed and watched a movie.
Sunday morning was another great breakfast by Jay - he cooks a LOT of food!! Afterwards we said our goodbyes to him and Emily and drove back to Grand Rapids. We spent the rest of the day just relaxing, looking at old pictures and hanging out in Teri's back yard!
Early Monday it was fly home time! Unfortunately my flight got delayed a couple of hours but I don't mind just hanging out at the airport! The flight home to Denver was good and it was back to the mountains after an awesome time with Teri and Patty!! I DO love our sisters' trips!!
