Uncooperative Weather

I remember Mondays - those work days where nothing goes right and you can't wait for the day to be over!  Glenn's day started like that but didn't end up too bad after all!!

Today was concrete pour day - because the shop is large, the concrete needs to be poured at 3 different times - I asked the head guy why that was and he explained that to pour it all at once would take a LOT more men and that usually something goes wrong with that large of a pour!  And we found that out................

Springtime in our area means nice sunny mornings and rainy afternoons - so the guys thought they would be fine pouring concrete first thing this morning!  The 2 concrete trucks arrived pretty much on time and the first batch started coming out just fine!!

And then the guy came back over to the 2nd truck to start it and get it over to the shop area and guess what - it wouldn't start!  He finally got it to go but it wouldn't dump the concrete out - so he had to take it back to town and bring another truck out!  About the time he got back, it starts to rain - and it rains and rains...............not good for fresh concrete!

It did stop though and the guys got it all smoothed out but it took many hours to get the excess moisture out of it!  I had no idea the process would take so long as they just finished up about 7:00pm.

But it looks great - and now we're hoping the next pour which is scheduled for Wednesday goes just perfect!!
