Sunsets & A Full Moon

We haven't had a lot of those outrageous beautiful sunrises this year!!  But the sunsets are taking their place!

It's always fun to watch the full moon come up over the ocean!  This one didn't disappoint!

Sunrises, sunsets, the ocean and full moons!  I feel blessed to experience all of God's creations!

Day Trip

Since we had wind for a couple of days, I suggested to Glenn that we take a ride to the waterfall!  So mid-morning we headed out before it got too hot!  Once you get a ways down the huge arroyo, there is usually no breeze at all and that sun is darn hot - lots of sunscreen was used!

Once we got down the bumpy arroyo, Glenn decided that he would rather go to the large waterfall instead of to the one at the very end (the small one).  I said sure, even though it's a little harder to get to as you have to climb around a large rock! And yes, there's a rope to hang onto as you go around it!

But once you get back there, it's so peaceful and pretty!  We were the only ones there!

There wasn't a lot of water coming down this year!

No fish in here - just clear water and probably about 6 feet deep!  But I didn't wear my suit to get in!

A nice way to pass the morning on the ATV!

Sunny Days in Baja

Life is good - beach walks in the mornings by himself or if Glenn isn't fishing, we will walk a loop together!  I get my chores done early so the rest of the day is MINE!  Word games and reading make up the bulk of my day - and if we're not busy in the evening, we'll watch TV.

Tasha decided she needed to get a couple of souviners from town so we went in and parked in our usual spot - decided this made a cool picture!

Tasha found what she needed and Glenn ended up getting a ball cap and  3 t-shirts!!  And me, I didn't get anything!!  Oh the way home we saw the shrimp guy so stopped and got large shrimp to eat!

And the below picture was happening while we were in sunny Mexico!!!  The girls kept in close contact with me, letting me know how much snow we were getting along with neighbor Alan and in the end, we got about 40" at our place in Colorado!!!  That would have been fun to see!  And it sure took a LONG time for all the plows to get everybody dug out!

Glenn cooked shrimp and veggie kabobs for Tasha and us - they turned out excellent!

The first time to get in the hot tub this year - it's fun to look at all the star when it gets dark since there aren't many lights around!

Glenn took Tasha out fishing for a few hours one morning - she enjoyed it and caught a puffer fish!!  Glenn got a couple of pompano and they were sure good eating!

We picked up Dave and Leslie the night before they left and went to Smokie's for drinks and nachos - a nice time visiting - we decided the nachos are about 1/2 the size that they used to be!!

Glenn talked Tasha into trying a shot of tequila - needless to say, she wasn't impressed!!

Tuesday morning we took Tasha into town to catch the bus to the airport in Cabo - we sure enjoyed having her here!

Fun Times With Tasha

We enjoyed our time with Tasha - she's very low key and sure didn't need to be entertained! Mornings would find her walking the beach too and spending a lot of time out under the palapas reading and journeling!

Not a spectacular sunrise but it was still very pretty!

See that big boat out in the ocean?   It's a shrimp trawler!  As much as I love shrimp, I sure despise it when they come around and get close to shore - they drag along the bottom of the ocean and the next day you'll see lots of dead puffer fish along the shore!  There were 2 of them out our way for days!

Glenn and Dave went out fishing - no luck though as the waves were too big to get where they were going!  But they still had fun!!

We had fresh fish from the day before and Dave offered to cook it at their condo so we headed over there late afternoon!  Drinks and snacks!  And then a great meal sitting outside looking at the ocean!  Their condo was really nice!

A cute picture of Tasha!

And another one of all of us!  We had a great time visiting and I brought chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert!

Anniversary Woes

39 years and counting!  WOW - have I really lasted that long with Glenn?  HA - just kidding!!

I had great plans to go out and eat at my favorite shrimp place - La Gaviota!  We didn't end up eating there last year as whenever we went, it seemed to be closed!  But then I was reading the weekly news online for Los Barrilles and saw that they were having a parade in town at 5:00 and were blocking off the main street where the parade route would go - which of course is where the restaurant is!

So we decided we would do lunch instead of dinner - no problem!  But when we got in there, the restaurant was closed for remodeling - oh my gosh - will I ever get to eat there????  Finally figured out another place to go - we hadn't been there last year so were VERY surprised when we walked in and it was about 3 times the size as before and completely different!

The shrimp was quite expensive - so we just decided to split a meal (which was PLENTY as I don't eat that much)!  The shrimp was good but not excellent - oh well, we tried!

We decided to have a "fish night out" with our friends - where you take the fish in and they cook it along with serving sides!  Hillary and Eric, Del and Linda joined us - since I didn't get to wear a "dress" for our anniversary since it was at lunchtime, I wore a dress so we could get a nice picture!

Their pina coladas were VERY good - and dinner was great!  Served our fish cooked a couple of different ways along with salad, rice and beans!  And plenty of enjoyable company!

Glenn and Eric fished and they each got a dorado!

Tasha, one of my friends' daughter had texted us after we got down there and asked if she could stay with us for a week - needed some "alone" time and "beach" time!  She had been at our house a couple of times and we both really enjoy her so of course I said yes, even though we usually only allow 2 sets of visitors to come!

Turned out friends from W. Pk, Dave and Leslie were flying in the same day as her and they were on the same flight so it worked out great to have them bring her up with them!  We all met for a late lunch at El Panzon and it was great to see them!

Here's Tasha hanging out on the front porch!

We had a beautiful sunset that night!  Love that pink ocean!

And our week with Tasha began!

ATVing Down The Beach

The ants in the kitchen were driving me crazy!!  We couldn't figure out where they were coming from - Glenn had put out the granules everywhere he could think of - we had went through almost a can of ant spray - and still they were in the kitchen at different times of day on the counters!  I finally said enough is enough and contacted the property manager to get ahold of the pest guy and have him come spray!

He has been to the rental before when we've been there - he's American and a really nice guy and does a good job of spraying!  So we had a time set up and since you need to be out of the house for a couple of hours, we decided to take an ATV ride down the beach!

But first a couple of sunrise pics!

It always is fun to ride along the beach on the ATV with the wind on your face !  We went down as far as you can go and had lunch under the palapas!

I climbed up the little lifeguard structure (I assume?) and had Glenn take my picture!

We walked down the beach and since it was low tide, there were a lot of rocks, birds and ducks around!

Driftwood from the hurricane last fall!

We watched a whale for quite a while spout and breach - we've seen some many whales this year!  I loved watching these 3 white birds!

We headed back after our allotted 2 hours!  Troy had left a sticky substance that he said to put on the counter if we saw any ants - of course we did later on that day so I put some of it on a piece of plastic wrap and oh my gosh - the ants came out in droves!!!  Troy said they would step in the stuff and take it back to the nest and that would kill them - and it DID!   The next day there were ants on the other counter so we did the same thing - lots and lots of ants - but by the next day they were all gone and we haven't seen one yet!!  HOORAY!!

When I went in to clean the 2nd bedroom before our next guest came, there was a dead cockroach in the shower - got rid of him and KNOW the house is completely bug free now!!

Sunny Days - Calm Waters

And when you have the calm waters, Glenn gets to fish and is happy!!  Another huge dorado!

And while Glenn is happy fishing, I'm happy walking in the mornings and taking pictures of the wonderful sunrises!

We went to Eric and Hillarys' one night for a seafood chowder - Hillary is a wonderful cook - she even made homemade bread!  And then there's me who struggles to even think of something to cook for the evening meal!!

I brought a hummingbird feeder down and hung it right outside the window - we have 2 hummingbirds who are drinking from it and the're so fun to watch!  One is at the feeder in the picture!

And just another perfect day in Baja!

Pizza

An adventure out in the country for pizza - sounds like fun!  Del and Linda invited us and Eric and Hillary to a pizza place about 5 miles outside of the nearby town of Santiago!  Their friends had purchased this 2 to 3 acre place that had lots of mango trees and a house and barn - they found the perfect couple to live out there with their 2 boys and are living the Mexico life!  And they decided to open to the public on weekends for pizza and salad!

So we all piled in Del's car and headed out there!  Rough road (as all the dirt roads are!) to get out there but we're used to that!  The place was cute as can be and the owners had done SO MUCH WORK to set up a watering system for all the mango trees, along with clearing all the brush away!  We were impressed!

Their 8 year old loved taking pictures of us!

These are the mango trees and you can see all the cement around the trees for the watering system.

The pizza was delicious - just 3 choices but that didn't bother us and Glenn and I had pepperoni!  They had beer and soft drinks also and the other 2 couples got salads along with a pizza!

And just had to take a picture of this cut off tree that comes up through the table and is a place to set the pizza pan - quite unique.  We had a fun time and will go back again some weekend!

A morning walk with no spectacular sunrise but still a pretty picture!

I love to watch the birds on the beach as they'll go into the water and find something to eat!

And March life has begun!

February Photo Dump

Just a few extras for the photo dump!  March has arrived which means even warmer weather!

One last Colordo sunrise before we left!

One of my FAVORITE items to eat down here - fresh tortillas, hot off the press from the tortilla factory!

Super Bowl party at our place (right after we arrived!!)  I'm not a football fan but did watch the game!

My potato to go from the Spa Resort - covered in shrimp and birra beef and carmelized onions!
I actually got 4 meals out of this one!

Holding the heart shaped glass in front of the fading sunset!

Glenn hired the gardener here to finish getting the dead palms off of the palm trees and the one in the street - but he REALLY took off way too much on the left palm and it looks like it had a shave - HA!

And that's a wrap for February!
