Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there!  It's always a day for reflection and memories when I think about my dad - he sure was one of a kind and I miss him!

Since Jessi's and Jill's were unable to come down and Jaime had to work during the day (but would be over for dinner) I decided to make it a special day for Glenn!

First on the list was breakfast!  I had never taken Glenn over to Dawn of Hope Ranch (the place that is like 2 miles from our house) to the Wild Horse Cafe!  So that's where we went!  They really don't have a breakfast menu to speak of but now are making bagels with egss, sausage or bacon and cheese!  We ordered "everything" bagels with sausage and they were delicious, and even served with fruit!  Of course I got a special coffee and it was great!

After breakfast we headed to town and got a few groceries before we headed to the theater to see Maverick!  We went to the first showing of the day so there were only 7 other people in the theater AND I was surprised to find out that tickets at that time are only $8.00 per person!  Since we haven't been to a movie since before Covid, I had no idea what tickets might cost!

Anyway, we both LOVED the movie - great music, great story and a few clips from Top Gun which made it SO special - it's one that I will definitely buy the DVD when it comes out!

Jaime worked till 6 and then picked up Kylan and they headed over for dinner (Brad was busy in Denver that day).  I made million dollar spagetti with brownies for dessert!

WHOA - that table sure looks long in this picture!!  Kylan and Glenn had fun playing pool!

One of Glenn's presents from the 3 girls!

It was a wonderful day spent together - Happy Fathers Day Glen!

Pueblo Camping

It's always a chore when Glenn pulls the 5th wheel out of the shop and it's time to clean it for camping!  My energy level was still not quite up to par but I got it all cleaned and repacked and that always excites me!  I LOVE our 5th wheel!

We always camp at a campground when Glenn does his spring fishing - this year it was Pueblo!  Our neighbors wanted to come with us but unfortunately he has a business (they're a lot younger than us) and can only go on weekends.  When we went to book (as soon as we got home from Mexico), of course all the weekend spots were gone....that's the great thing about being retired, we can go during the week!  So it just ended up that Glenn and I went and we'll make earlier reservations next year for the 4 of us to go!

The last time we were down there, we had driven around and I had marked NEW sites that we liked at another campground - and that's where we were this year!  The spot was great with a nice shade tree and because it was by a small inlet, Glenn could park the boat there during the day when he rested and at night so he didn't have to load and unload it every day!

My view from the large window inside the 5th wheel!

A great camping spot!

Glenn had fun fishing - he didn't catch very many but he always has a great time and that's what counts!  One day it was hot enough that we turned on the a/c in the afternoon!  I had hooked up the DVD player and watched a movie each day while he was fishing!  But most of the time I just read and took walks!

There was a nice path that cut back over to the marina so we walked there the first night - and I continued to walk that path the next couple of days!  There was a beautiful sunset one night!

Neighbor Peggy (who LOVES to fish) came down one day and fished with Glenn - they came back to the camper for lunch and to cool off!  But sure didn't catch any fish that were keepers!

Now that summer is here, it's time to do MORE camping and ATVing!

Aleah's Dance Recital

Busy times!  Glenn had decided when we were in Mexico that he did NOT want to go to his 50 year class reunion!  I gave him a deadline to tell me as airline tickets were on sale but he insisted he wasn't going to go!  Fast forward - after we got back home, he informed me (after he got a phone call from a friend he graduated with) that he WAS going to the reunion.  He actually graduated in 1970 but the reunion got cancelled 2 years in a row due to COVID.

Of course by this time the airline ticket was NOT on sale!  But even though it was 3 times as much as what it was before, I of course still booked it!  Your 50 year reunion only comes around once in a lifetime so I didn't begrudge it - well, not for long at least!

The nice thing about it was that his reunion was on the same weekend that Aleah had her dance recital which I was going to!  So I dropped him off at the airport and then headed to Ft. Collins!  It was SO green up there! I stopped at Ziggie's to get coffee and a drink for Jill before heading to their place! Robby's mom, Bev also came in a couple of hours after I arrived!

We played cards and had a great afternoon together!

It was one of those perfect evenings to sit out by the firepit!  Parker roasted marshmallows!

Saturday we went to Sam's - I was looking for a couple of items but unfortunately didn't find either one - oh well!  But we did buy flowers to give to Aleah!

And before we knew it, it was time to eat a very early dinner, get Aleah ready and head to the dance recital!  She looked AMAZING!

How cool to get a picture with both grandma's!

We had great seats and oh my gosh - this was NOT a dance recital but a production of The Wizard of Oz - it was absolutely amazing!  I love watching dancing anyway and between the music and the dances, I loved every minute of it!  Aleah did a fantastic job on her dance and I loved the song they danced to!

We went to Freddy's for ice cream after that - I had never been to one and was thrilled how good the ice cream was - Parker had order french fries too and they are the skinnest fries I've ever seen but OH SO GOOD!!  I'll have to remember that!

Sunday morning I headed out to go to Jessi's!  Gwyn FINALLY got to open her birthday present from us and loved her new rain boots!  They were all going to a church campout so were busy getting ready for that - it was kind of fun to just sit and watch all the action going on - HA!

My plans were to leave about 3:15 to pick up Glenn at the airport - he was due to arrive at 3:30.  But texted and said the plane was running late so I decided to just stay at Jessi's (even though they all left) until Glenn texted me.  The plane was quite late as they had to go way around to avoid a storm - I left as soon as I got the text and pulled into arrivals to pick him up!  When I couldn't see him down there, I texted and said I was waiting - no response - texted 5 times and STILL no response so started calling him.  And by this time security had already warned me I needed to move on - I just told them he was on his way out!  I called him 4 times and no answer and now I'm really starting to panic as I had no idea why he wasn't out there!  FINALLY he texted (he had put his phone in the suitcase as soon as he had texted me he had landed - REALLY??????) I said I had been there for 30 minutes and texted AGAIN where the car was - still he didn't come!!!  FINALLY after 40 minutes, I saw him walking towards me!  By that time I was so frustrated and angry and mad that I could hardly talk!!  And where was he all this time - waiting at DEPARTURES for me to pick him up!  Oh my gosh!!  He just figured I would pick him up where I dropped him off at!      Oh well, we finally made it home at 8:00pm that night!

And yes, he had a great time at his reunion!

May Photo Dump

Since June is well underway, it's time to get the May photo dump posted!!

Our good friend ended up in the hospital and then the nursing home while we were in Mexico - as soon as we got home, we went to visit him.  Jaime suggested that instead of taking flowers, Glenn should make him something - and that's just what he did!!  He welded together this cute little flower!

A trip to the grocery store with Gwyn and Kenzie when we were in Denver - they LOVED picking out food for lunch!

Gwyn decided she needed to cut Papa's hair!

There were some neat photo op pics in Ft. Collins when we all walked around - Aleah climbed up this tree so had to snap a picture!

I was driving when my car turned to this so it was interesting trying to drive and snap a picture!

And I caught that 100,000 mark too!

We had snow while I had COVID - if you look closely, you'll see a hummingbird trying to figure out where to drink!

It snowed and snowed and snowed - we definitely needed it!  Luckily we didn't lose any major branches!

Yes, we got a lot - to the tune of 22 inches!!!!

Pretty cool picture huh?

My friend's daughter from Washington stopped to see us and knew I wasn't feeling the best yet - she brought me these beautiful flowers!!  Spent the night and worked from our house remotely the next day - she's a sweetheart and we always enjoy seeing her!

And that's a wrap for May!

And COVID Arrived Without Warning

So the reason I'm behind in blogging is merely because I just haven't felt like blogging!  Yup - COVID finally reached me!

After not getting it when Glenn had it 2 Thanksgivings ago, and then not getting it this last Thanksgiving when everybody but Glenn and I got it, I was sure I was immune to it!  But on Saturday night the 21st of May, I started feeling pretty tough that evening with a bad headache!  And awoke on Sunday morning feeling horrible - it was Glenn's birthday and I felt so bad that I couldn't properly celebrate it with him!  But the headache was intense for a couple of days and I spent most of that time in bed just sleeping and trying to get rid of it.

I tested on Sunday for COVID and it was negative, but Tuesday morning I tested again and sure enough I got a positive result!  Luckily the headache, chills and fever only lasted a couple of days but then the extreme tiredness and a bad cough cropped up so I was pretty much recliner bound for the next week!

It certainly wasn't a fun experience but I'm glad it's over and done with and now I have the antibodies which will hopefully protect me over the next couple of years!

A little lingering cough is still hanging on but I have most of my energy back now and ready to move forward for the summer!  Still not sure where I picked it up but the time frame made it pretty sure that I picked it up in Iowa when we were back for the graduation!

May Birthdays

3 birthdays in May!  First up was Gwyn who turned 7!  What happened to my little girl??  She's getting so grown up and certainly isn't the baby of the family now!  I so love spending time with her!

Next in May was Glenn's birthday who turned the big 70!!!  WOW - that's a milestone!  I had a prime rib that Brad was going to cook over at his house, and then I would bring over the rest of the meal!!  But that didn't happen quite the way it was supposed to!!  More on that in the next blog!  So Glenn ended up heading over to Jaime's to celebrate his birthday without me!  I did send a peach crisp which they all enjoyed and the prime rib Brad cooked to perfection!

Glenn was excited to get a new pair of REAL clogs (some of the knock offs just don't hold up) from the girls along with a tshirt and I had him pick out a fish finder for his kayak!

And last but not least was Kylan's 15th birthday - now that just seems impossible that he turned 15 years old!!  Oh my gosh - where does the time go?

So the May birthdays are gone and we all get a reprieve during June - good thing since July is jam packed full of birthdays!!
