Is vacation really over? Is it time to go back to the cold weather and snow? Unfortunately, yes! But not before I snap a few more pictures!!
Here's the view from the buffet where we always ate breakfast!
And here's the view from our balcony!
Because I forgot to take any pictures of the food from the "Premium Club" place, I borrowed one of Patty's - THANKS PATTY!! I can almost taste that yummy fruit..........
And thanks again to Patty for this picture of the Mexican Restaurant - apparently I didn't take one of this either and this restaurant was our favorite!
A couple of last pictures of the resort!
And then we headed to the lobby for our driver to take us to the airport! Since we were there plenty early and the terminal is VERY small, we had time to shop!! True, there weren't many shops but I DID find what I wanted - an ornament and my white jacket!! Whoo Hoo!!!
A couple of camera men and 3 models came in shortly after us and hung around for a while - apparently they were shooting a western commercial as the models were dressed like cowboys and we enjoyed watching them for a while!
Unfortunately, our flight out of Manzanillo was delayed - air traffic control called from Mexico City (our next layover) and said not to take off yet. After about a 45 minute delay, the guy tagged our carry-on luggage with gate check-in tags since the airplane was small and we were finally off!
Next stop - Mexico City - we arrived at a smaller terminal so were bussed into the main terminal and we were to pick up our "carry-on" luggage inside. Well guess what - my one carry-on bag did NOT come into the main terminal!! Since the other 4 did NOT have boarding passes and we were late already, they chose to go ahead while we waited around. Finally the guy taking the carry-on bag slips was finished and we approached him - he didn't speak English but we finally figured out that he was telling us that the bag would be shipped all the way to Denver since it was NOW with the checked luggage! I knew better than that - there were NO tags on the bag to show WHICH airline it needed to go to, let alone which destination.......sigh......we had to choice but to move on!!
We got into the main terminal and it was a ZOO!! It is NOT marked well at all and it was tough trying to find someone who spoke English - we finally found someone and he told us where to go -we went there and stood in line, only to be told that was INCORRECT and to go to another gate - all the way back across to another gate, only to be told AGAIN it was incorrect and try another gate - by this time the clock is ticking away and I'm positive we are going to miss the next flight!! FINALLY we figured out - we were in the wrong terminal - so off to the tram which took another 5 minutes to arrive - then race off it and through ANOTHER security check! After that we started running - it was quite a ways to the gate and NOTHING was marked very well at all in this section either!
Needless to say the plane was still there but the doors had been closed and they wouldn't let us on! While they were re booking us to Houston and Denver, I thought to ask about Leonard, Patty, Jim and Brenda and guess what - they didn't make it either!!
We started walking to our gate when we saw the other 4 headed our way - they had the same problem - couldn't find where they needed to go either so we all missed the plane!!
But we did get on the next flight to Houston - all of us!! And because Glenn and I were in the "extra legroom" seats, we were close to the front and hopped right out to get through customs as we didn't have a long layover before our flight to Denver. Customs was MUCH longer than in Manzanillo of course and we could see the other 4 in line but couldn't wait to tell them goodbye! We found our next flight and boarded within 5 minutes for our flight to Denver!
Once again, we had the extra legroom seats so that was nice - plenty of room to stretch out and relax, even though we were starved because we had missed lunch and dinner - at least I had some snacks in the computer bag! After a VERY bumpy flight, we landed in Denver where Glenn insisted on eating a hamburger before we headed down to file a lost baggage claim - try telling the service rep that you lost your carry-on luggage - I think she thought I was nuts!!
But I have to admit Continental did an EXCELLENT job of finding my bag - they called the next morning and said it was located in Mexico City (exactly where I KNEW it would be), verified the contents and my address and said they would call once it arrived in Denver! And sure enough, Friday morning they called and said it would be delivered that day - wow - I was expecting it to be shipped to us via Fed Ex but someone actually delivered it to our home address, all intact!
All in all, one FANTASTIC RELAXING vacation, except for the trip home. We would definitely go back to Manzanillo again but have decided the Mexico City airport is not for us - not until I learn some Spanish that is!!!
