The First Camping Trip of the Season

Rain - Rain - Rain!!  But we don't complain loudly since it was an extremely dry winter!  We went ahead and planned our short 1st camping trip because we always like to do something close by just in case there is a problem with the 5th wheel or the razor!  And since we have a new toy hauler to try out, it was a great time to check it out!

We just ended up going to our old stand-by, Buffalo Peaks which is only a 45 minute drive!  I had a dr's appt. in Co. Springs that morning so we didn't leave till late morning!  The road in was super rough and the first camping spot (which we've always talked about staying at but it's always full) was open so we just decided to park there and camp - the spot was perfect!

We went for a short ride that evening after dinner and saw 3 different sets of elk so that was fun!  Also one huge turkey!  But it was COLD!   Sure glad we have the heater in the razor!

The 5th wheel worked out fantastic!!  I'm very happy with it, even though it isn't near as "plush" as the old one!  But it's a cinch to put up the seats and couch and just drive the razor in!  We did realize that we had the wrong button pushed on the frig as nothing was very cold the next morning so got the manual out and got that fixed!  Otherwise, no problems!

We headed out after coffee and breakfast the next morning!  Of course we had our heavy sweatshirts on for the ride and the heater was going full blast!  It was a nice ride and the mountains by Buena Vista were as beautiful as ever!

Lots of neat scenery to see but you can see the clouds building up!

We had a quick lunch and then headed back to the camper before it started raining!  No campfire that night so we read and played Upwords and RAN THE FURNACE!

The next morning was darn chilly!  Glenn had met the rancher the day before who has his cows and calves in that area - the rancher was doing a roundup and Glenn asked if he could help!  So he got on the razor and helped drive the cows and calves to the ranchers place - I stayed in the 5th wheel and read!

It was a short but nice trip and we're looking forward to the next camping trip!
