Mackenzie has arrived! No, we DID NOT KNOW it was going to be a little girl - Jessi is one of those moms that likes surprises so she did not know the sex of the baby before she was born! And the other unique thing about this baby is that she was born at home! Yes, another home birth for Jessi and Gary!
I got the phone call at 2:00pm that it was time to come! 15 minutes later I was out the door from work and headed to Denver - and none too soon either - this little tyke didn't wait around! Gary had arrived home about 3:00 from work and Jaime was already there helping Jessi and taking care of Evan - I arrived by 4:00 and we were glad when Glenn arrived about an hour later to take Evan over to Jaime's house for a while - he just didn't understand why he couldn't be up with mom!
Soon the mid-wife arrived and before we knew it, Mackenzie was born! 6:06 to be precise on the 2nd of December - a chubby little girl at 8# 12 oz and 19 1/2 " long!
Jessi had a "water birth" and as soon as Mackenzie was delivered, she was immediately put on Jessi 's chest and we didn't know the sex - after a little bit, Jessi turned the baby around and looked down and said "it's another boy" - but then looked again and said, "no, it's a GIRL!" She had first seen the umbilical cord which was still attached at that point! We all had a chuckle out of that!
Mom and baby are doing just great! I took a couple of days off at work to help Jessi out so I've had lots of special times holding this new little baby! She is so precious! One more grandchild to love and spoil!
