I was starting to get a little worried about Glenn - he left a week ago today and I hadn't heard from him all week!! But he arrived home yesterday with the news that he had gotten an elk with his black powder rifle!!
Him and Bob had not left camp all week and there was no cell phone service of course where they were camped, at about 11,000 foot elevation! Luckily, they didn't have the cold weather that we've been having and only a little rain!
The exciting (I'm not sure I would call it that!!) part of his trip was that he was stalked by a mountain lion!! It was only about 15 yards from him - Glenn broke a branch off a tree and threw it at him and yelled at the lion and he finally walked away, only to re-surface on a rock ABOVE him, 30 yards away! Eventually the mountain lion sauntered away - I'm not sure I would have been very calm about the situation but Glenn did mention that for the next hunt, he's going to have some pepper spray handy!! Yes, he was carrying his black powder rifle but as he says, getting that rifle in position and with only one shot to take, the situation might not have come out real good!!
It's great to have him back home!

So happy for Glenn that he got his elk and REALLY happy that the mt lion "didn't" get Glenn!!! :)
That would be just too scary! Glad he is home safe and sound and with meat for you to eat!
I suppose you don't go hunting expecting to be huntED! So glad he finally got an elk this year!
