Alaska Trip - Juneau #3

Our second excursion of the day was to ride the Mount Roberts Tramway! The tram goes up 1800 feet and the views at the top are amazing!! You can see for miles and miles and the day was clear and sunny so that was a PLUS!!
The Mountain House at the top includes a bar/restaurant, a small theater, a gift shop (of course!) and a nature center! We took a couple of the trails outside and walked around a bit – in places there was still snow on the trails so you had to be careful not to slip and fall! Several of the trees had carvings on them!
It was mid-afternoon by now and I was starving so we sat at the restaurant and split a hamburger and fries while taking in the fantastic views!!

The nature center has a real bald eagle on display – I didn’t catch the entire story about the eagle but I’m sure he was probably hurt at one time……….

Then it was back to the gift shop where I purchased my first Christmas ornament for the tree!
Getting back on the boat was again, something like the airport! Of course you had to show your ID and then put all your belongings through the x-ray machine but there wasn’t a wait so we headed right in and went to our cabin!

Dinner that night was later again and by the time we were finished eating, we were both exhausted and ready to hit the sack! And by the way, it’s light outside till 10:00! And light out in the morning by 5:00!
