Sunday afternoon was a perfect time to relax a little bit and head to the Florissant Library with a friend for a presentation on Doc Susie.
The Pikes Peak Historical Society invited local Hedy Boyce to portray "Doc Susie" who was an early Pioneer Doctor who set up practice in Cripple Creek. Dr. Susan Anderson was one of the first female doctors in the American West after receiving her degree from the University of Michigan.
She eventually moved to Fraser, CO where she practiced medicine for 60 years and eventually became the coroner for Grand County. Doc Susie is best known for her inspiration in the TV series, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
It was a very interesting presentation and now I can't wait to read the book, "Doc Susie".
